Operation of the TRIUMF (20-500 MeV) Proton Irradiation Facility
نویسنده
چکیده
The TRIUMF Proton Irradiation Facility can cover an energy range from below 20 MeV to 500 MeV using two extracted proton beam lines which operate into the same experimental area. The range of proton intensities is ideal for single event effect testing and high enough for some radiation damage testing of components. Neutrons, pions and higher intensity protons are also available at TRIUMF. Keywords— proton, neutron, single event testing

Operation of the Triumf Proton Therapy Facility
The Proton Therapy Facility at TRIUMF is now in routine operation treating ocular tumours using 70 MeV protons extracted from the 500 MeV H cyclotron. This paper describes the proton beam line, treatment control and dosimetry systems which are designed to provide accurate treatment dose delivery. The reproducibility of the shape and range of the unmodulated Bragg peak for various operating cond...
متن کاملUsing a Pulsed Deflector for Extraction of Pulsed Beams from the Triumf Cyclotron
In the normal mode of operation, the TRIUMF cyclotron accelerates H ions to produce 500 MeV proton beams of 160 A with 4 nsec pulses separated by 43 nsec. A proposed experiment ( ! e conversion) requires a 500 MeV beam with 100-200 nsec pulses separated by 1-2 sec with an average intensity of 200 A. Two methods have been investigated to achieve this time structure. Both incorporate a pulsed ele...
متن کاملDesign of 100 Mev Proton Beam Irradiation Facility for the Pefp 100 Mev Linac *
The Proton Engineering Frontier Project (PEFP) will install a 100-MeV proton linear accelerator at Gyeong-ju site. For the beam commissioning of 100 MeV proton linac, the two target rooms (TR 103, TR 23) will be prepared as a starter among 10 target room. To design the irradiation equipment in TR 103, we have investigated general propagation shape and spatial distribution of proton beam, when 1...
متن کاملNormalization of neutron-proton differential cross sections
The np differential cross section below 350 MeV neutron laboratory energy is studied using the energy-dependent Nijmegen partial-wave analysis PWA93. We analyze in detail three experiments, performed at LAMPF, at TRIUMF, and at the TSL facility in Uppsala. The issue of normalization of np cross sections is discussed, where we distinguish between measured and calculated normalizations. This anal...
متن کاملProton dose monitoring with PET: quantitative studies in Lucite.
The feasibility of using PET for proton dose monitoring is examined here in detail. First experimental studies in a Lucite phantom have been performed at the medical TRIUMF proton beamline for proton energies of 62 MeV and 110 MeV. The proton dose delivered to the phantom ranged from 16 Gy up to 317 Gy. The induced activity was analysed 20-40 min after the irradiation with a PET scanner. The ob...
